William Olsonoski, 67, passed away on Saturday, August 30 on his farm north of Lancaster. William Leo Olsonoski (Bill) was born on November 14, 1946 in Hallock, MN, the son of William and Verna E (Graboski). He grew up in Richardville Township in Kittson County. He attended and graduated from Lancaster Public School in 1964. Bill enlisted in the Air Force and attended basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas from 1964-1965. He moved on to Biloxi, Mississippi and was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base. His service continued at Royal Air Force Alconbury, a British military base located in Cambridgeshire of the United Kingdom, for Radar Controller Training. He was stationed at Phu Cat' Air Base, Vietnam, until his honorable discharge in July 1968. Bill returned to Lancaster and worked in Pembina at Motor Coach Industries. He later moved to Minneapolis, MN where he began working for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) until 1981. After departing from the FAA Bill began working as an accountant in the Minneapolis/St. Paul region. On December 31, 1999 he married Kathy Whipple. Bill relocated back to Thief River Falls in 2000. In 2002, Bill joined his soul mate MaryAnn and moved back to Lancaster. They enjoyed many happy years together, travelling, dancing and visiting. Bill added many animals to MaryAnn's Hobby Farm. They enjoyed each and every one of them. He was particularly proud of his hairless sheep, miniature donkeys and miniature cows. He was a man of many talents with several hobbies and interests. He is survived by his fiancé MaryAnn Schmiedeberg of Lancaster, her children Wayne (Cindy), Danny (Liza), Bobby (Pattijo), Donnie (Jennifer), Keith (Michelle). Twelve grandchildren, Michael, Brady (Destiny), Brett, Blair, Garet, Gabrielle, Emily, Rachel, Nicia, Chisum, Adella, and Laura and a great-grand son, Braxton. Nieces Deb Roach, Dianne (Allen) Anderson, and nephew Dave Gorski. Great-nieces and nephews, Holly Gaudreau (Ryan), Kari Anderson (Ryan), Darcy Roach, Tracy Roach, Corey Roach, and Zane Anderson. A great great grand niece Aubryanna Sternisha. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, sister Florence, brother-in-law John, nephew Daniel, and wife Kathy Whipple. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, September 3, at 11 am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church north of Lancaster. Burial will be at a later date at Fort Snelling in St. Paul, MN. Rev. Craig Vasek, presiding; Erik Finney, soloist. Honorary casket bearers will be Bill's great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Austin Funeral Home in Hallock on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
