Obituary

William John "Bill" Pemberton, 94, of Hallock, Minnesota died on December 26, 2013 at the Kittson Memorial Nursing Home where he had been a resident since August of this year. Bill was born January 20, 1919 to Art and Cora (Suffel) Pemberton in Hallock. Bill attended Hallock High School and graduated in 1936. He attended the University of Minnesota for two years returning to Hallock and with his brother, George, owned Pemberton Honey Farm. He was united in marriage to Mabel Pearson July 5, 1941. Mabel died in 2005. Bill was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1942 and served in Europe and Africa. After being honorably discharged in 1945 he returned home to make honey and in 1960 began farming as well. Bill was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and served on the church board; the Hallock Volunteer Fire Department; Hallock Volunteer Ambulance and served on the Hallock School Board. Bill will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Family members include his children; Nancy (Jim) Larson, Kennedy, MN; Ann Ryan, Mahnomen, MN, Carol Dahlman, Hallock and Lee (Peggy) Pemberton, Hallock; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mabel; a sister, a brother; and a grandson. Memorial services are scheduled for Sunday, December 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Grace Lutheran Church at Hallock. Rev. Frank Johnson, presiding; Renee Wahl, organist; Karen Vold and Jillayne Kraska, duet. Honorary casket bearers will be Bill's grandchildren.
