Tilmen P. Spilde, 83, of Kennedy, Minnesota passed away at Bridges Care Community in Ada, Minnesota on Monday, July 15th, 2013. Tilmen was born at Halma, Minnesota November 9, 1929 to Theodore and Pauline (Oien) Spilde. He was baptized and confirmed in Eidsvold Lutheran Church at Halma. Tilmen attended school in Halma and Karlstad, graduating from Karlstad High School in 1947. Tilmen served with the U.S. Army and was stationed in Guam during his tour of duty. On November 22, 1950 he married Jeanette Nelson at Red River Lutheran Church, rural Kennedy. Tilmen managed elevators in Delamere, North Dakota and Baker, Minnesota before moving to Kennedy in 1960. He was employed at the Kennedy Farmers Elevator until his retirement in 1992. Tilmen was a member of Maria Lutheran Church, the Kennedy VFW and the Halma-Lake Bronson American Legion. Family members include his wife, Jeanette; sons, Gary (Julie) Spilde, Hallock, Scott (Theresa) Spilde, St. Michael, MN and Tim (Barb) Spilde, Ada, MN; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two brothers, Paul (Lil) Spilde, Colton, SD and Arlo (Adeline) Spilde, Karlstad. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Keith. Memorial services are scheduled for Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Maria Lutheran Church, Kennedy. Interment will be in the Kennedy City Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Kennedy VFW Honor Guard. Pastor Kathy Levenhagen, presiding; Patti Swanson, organist; Dwight Nelson, soloist and Patti Swanson, soloist. Honorary casket bearers will be Eric Spilde, Tyler Spilde, Lukas Dahl, Andrew Spilde, Markas Dahl, Kelsey Spilde, Alexas Dahl, Kirk Spilde; and great grandchildren, Mark Spilde, Nolan Spilde, Madeline Spilde, Sydney Spilde and Emily Spilde.
