A blessed life: family, a beautiful wife of 70 years and four fabulous children (authors of this obit), great friends, farming, football, woodworking and carpentry, camping, snowbirding in Yuma, games (especially pinochle and cribbage) and sports of all sorts.  Theadore was born on December 23, 1923 on the family farm in Davis Township, just south of Donaldson, Minnesota where he was welcomed into the world as the fourth child of William and Jenny (Lindahl) Kroulik.  He loved the farm and spent his life working the land where he was born and together with the love of his life, his wife Patricia (Berg) raised a family of four on that same ground.  On June 22 of this year Patricia and Ted celebrated their 70 wedding anniversary. A love story that should be a model and the envy of all.  Theadore passed away peacefully at the Kittson Memorial Health Care Center on August 10 at the age of 93.  If life is measured by the love shared, honest work, smiles shared and games played, his years on Earth were well spent.

Ted attended high school at the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston where he earned his diploma while forming lifelong friendships with other young men and women from throughout northwest Minnesota. While at NWSA he took advantage of every opportunity to participate in sports.  In 1942 he was named to the Minnesota All-State Football team and was invited by the University of Minnesota to join the Gopher football team.  As with so many young men at that time, the war interrupted his educational plans and he became a member of the U.S. Navy team instead.  Theadore was very proud of his years in the Navy; which included service in the Pacific Theater on the battleship California (BB-44) and later on LCI-883 off the coast and in the harbors of Japan.  Ted was honorably discharged from the Navy at Jacksonville, Florida in 1946.

On June 22, 1947 Ted was united in marriage to Patricia Berg at Maria Lutheran Church in Kennedy, MN. Through thick and thin their love survived all the challenges of raising a family on a small family farm. They accepted the challenges of making the small farm work, building a new home for their family from the basement up as money would allow and they had great loyalty for those who trusted them when times were tough. Ted always took pride in hard work and beyond the farm he worked construction with Frank Delisle for many years and also worked at the Drayton Beet Plant.

All who knew Ted knew that he loved being around people, woodworking, the smell of sawdust, and that he loved sports and games. As a young man he continued playing sports whenever he could.  As years went by he loved watching his children play sports in high school and college and later watching his grandchildren's games.  As his sons and grandsons became coaches he frequently had suggestions on how to open up the offense with special plays.  Many will remember his enthusiastic and vocal support of his favorite teams.  For over 30 years Ted and Pat were able to snowbird to Yuma, Arizona and enjoyed all of the winters they spent there with friends from all over the continent.

Preceding him on the flight to heaven were his parents, brothers Clifford and Donald and sisters Ardella Theroux and Alverona Jacobs. Surviving family members include his wife Patricia, sons Douglas (Maire), Ivan (Mary Jane), Mark (Beth) and daughter Melissa Augustin (Craig) as well as ten grandchildren and 18 great -grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Maria Lutheran Church in Kennedy, MN at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 11.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A special shout out is given to all the great friends who enhanced his life and especially to those who added too the final years of his life: the great staff at the Tamarac Senior Living Center in Stephen and the great staff at Kittson Memorial Health Care Center.  In lieu of flowers the family a sks memorials be directed to Maria Luthern Church, WDAY Honor Flight and Kittson County Hospice.
