Samuel Joseph Lingarde Jr. lost his battle with cancer on February 12, 2018, passing away at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks at the age of 54 surrounded with loved ones by his side.

Samuel was born in Omaha, Nebraska on April 10, 1963 to Samuel and Joan (Mikkelson) Lingarde.  He grew up in Omaha and attended school there.  Samuel got into the construction business installing dry wall and worked in Arizona before moving to Drayton in 1992. Sam worked at American Crystal, Associated Potato and Pastorek Construction.  Sam loved his grandchildren and enjoyed every moment with them, especially fishing with his grandson and best friend, Dylan, they had an unbreakable bond.  He was an outdoorsman, fished and enjoyed a good game of pool.

Family members include three daughters, Mary (Shawn) Barta, Minot, ND, Rebecca (Mark) Saeland, Warroad, MN and Jessica (Juan) Meader, Grafton; a son, Samuel (Amber) Lingarde III, Omaha, NB; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Randy (Wendla) Lingarde, Phoenix, AZ and Shannon Lingarde, Drayton; a sister, Misty Mathis in Arkansas; and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charlie.

Memorial services are scheduled for Friday, February 16, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in Austin Funeral Chapel, Drayton. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service.   Rev. David Sorrel, presiding; Shirley VanCamp, soloist.  Honorary pall bearers will be Sam's grandchildren.
