Obituary

Ruby Caroline Sorenson, 97, Hallock MN passed away at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center on Saturday, February 21, 2015. Ruby was born in Hallock on August 2, 1917 to Henrietta (Moen) and William A. Muir. Following graduation from Hallock High School, she attended the Minneapolis School of Business. She returned to Kittson County and married Adolf Sorenson on March 16, 1938. They farmed together until Adolf's passing in 1974. After her move from the farm to town, she enjoyed meeting and serving the customers at her nephew's (John Muir) Sears catalog store. In later years, she loved spending the winters in Arizona with family. Ruby was a life-long member of Grace Lutheran church. She enjoyed attending Bible study, going to bingo, and playing Scrabble and card games with her many dear friends and family. Ruby was a member of the Two River 4-H club; later a parent and leader in 4-H. Farming, raising her family, cooking, canning, gardening, baking, and the occasional berry picking kept her busy. Quiet times were spent crocheting, putting together jigsaw puzzles and completing the daily crossword puzzle, which helped to keep her mind sharp. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Adolf; five sisters: Alvina, Mildred, Annie, Nellie, and Louise; three brothers: Eldon, Albert, and infant Robert; son-in-law Robert Feick; grandson, Mark Feick; and grandson-in-law, Dallas Johnson. She is survived by four children: David (Jean) Sorenson, Hallock, MN; Gwen Feick, St. Vincent, MN; Barbara (Dennis) Sarnowski, Menasha, WI; and Beverly (Randy) Swenson, Lancaster, MN; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, to which she was like a second mother. Grandma Ruby was very proud of her fifth generation family. A Celebration of Life gathering is planned at Grace Lutheran Church, Hallock at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27. A funeral service will be held later, on Tuesday, May 26th at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church
