Ruby Benson passed away at Karlstad Healthcare Center on September 18, 2015. Ruby Victoria Carlson was born in Hallock, MN on January 23, 1932 to Gustaf and Annie Carlson. Ruby was confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, rural Hallock. She graduated from Hallock High School in 1950. On June 23, 1950, Ruby married John Jauhola. They lived in Hallock, and had two children, Larry and Patricia. Ruby worked at the Kittson County Enterprise, and she generously shared her time as a 4-H leader. Ruby married Ray Benson on July 6, 1974. They made their home in Stephen and then Lake Bronson. Ruby and Ray traveled to Sweden in 1995. Highlights of her trip included visiting cousins and seeing her father's family farm. Ruby also enjoyed traveling to many craft shows during her retirement. And she loved her gardens, her cat, and golf cart rides. Ruby was a creative force, who generously shared her talents with her family and friends. Her short stories and crafts were proof of her great mind. Ruby is survived by Larry (Janice) Jauhola, Thief River Falls, MN. Patty (Daniel) Langehaug, Lake Bronson, MN. Sister; Ruth Rand, Willmar, MN. Sister-in-law; Edith Grandstrand, rural Stephen, MN. Sister-in-law; Marjorie (Bob) Kvale, Long Lake, MN. Five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. Many honorary grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents and her two husbands. Ruby enjoyed her 3 years at the Karlstad Meadows. Many thanks to the Karlstad healthcare staff for their great care. Although Ruby's health declined towards the end of her life, her good attitude and love for her family and friends remained strong. May she rest in peace. Graveside services are scheduled for Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Bethlehem Cemetery, rural Hallock. Rev. Gary Halverson, presiding; Lyndon Johnson, soloist.
