Ronald L. Olson, 71, of Drayton, North Dakota passed away at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks on Wednesday, August 6th, 2014. Ronald was born in Pembina County North Dakota on July 19, 1943 to Willard and Marie Olson. He grew up in Drayton and attended school there. Ronald was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in Vietnam. Upon his return to Drayton he began working for B & G Farms and retired from there in 2009. Ronald was a member of Drayton United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with family. He is survived by his brother, Duane "Tony" (Ardis) Olson, Drayton; a sister, Emma Olson, Fargo, ND; a sister-in-law, Donna Olson, Drayton; and was very close to nieces and nephews, Shad Olson, Sheri (Nathan) Kuznia and their son, Gunnar, Justin Olson and Nicole (Charlie) Stein; as several other nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Laverne. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, August 11, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in Drayton United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Drayton City Cemetery. Rev. Gary Johnson, presiding; Special music, Karen Schumacher and Shirley VanCamp. Casket bearers will be Gary Olson, Charles Olson, Eddie Olson, Brian Thompson, Bob Halcrow, Tom Halcrow, Shad Olson, Justin Olson and Nathan Kuznia. Military honors will be accorded by the North Dakota National Guard and Drayton American Legion Post #159. Visitation will be held at Austin Funeral Chapel in Drayton on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
