Ronald Chapman, 89, of Drayton, North Dakota passed away at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks on Thursday, March 16, 2017.  Ronald Earl Chapman was born October 9, 1927 in Glasston, North Dakota to Cecil and Ivy (Lorenzen) Chapman.  He attended school in Glasston and began working on area farms after completing his education.  Ronald entered the U.S. Army and served with the occupation force in Japan.  On August 9, 1949 he was united in marriage to Corrinne Gaffney.  Ronald worked for the Pembina Highway Department and several local elevators before taking a job with Cenex in 1970.  He worked at the Cenex fertilizer in Drayton for many years retiring in 1998 at the age of 70.  Ron was a member of the Drayton Curling Club, the Pembina Sportsmans Club and the Drayton American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Corrinne; children, Richard (Donna) Chapman, Phoenix, AZ, Thomas (June) Chapman, Longmont, CO, Mary Jane (John) Smallbeck Jr, Aneta, ND and Shelley (Kevin) Schuster, Minto, ND; 11 grandchildren, Lisa (Schalk Swart) Chapman, Grafton, Kristi (Jamie) Ganssle, Crystal, Jeremy Chapman, Fargo, Brandee (Dan) Zeal, Phoenix, Trent (Kelly) Davis, Dillon, CO, Ryan Chapman, Longmont, CO, Kari (Alex) Blonski, Fort Collins, CO, Christopher (Mandy) Smallbeck, Grafton, Carrie (Ed) Zimprich, East Grand Forks, Heather (James) Bullard, Weatherford, TX and Kara (Taylor Ausen) Schuster, Grand Forks; 26 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; a sister, Beverly (Roger) Jaster, Cavalier, ND and nieces and nephews.  Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kerry Ann; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Irene and Gene Robertson and Erma and Cecil Moe.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, March 24, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in Drayton United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held at Austin Funeral Chapel in Drayton on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00. Pastor Carol Olson, presiding. Honorary casket bearers will be all of Ron's grandchildren.
