Robert Glenn VanCamp was born November 8, 1917.  He was at home when he joined heaven's choir on May 29, 2017.  He sang his first solo in church at age 17 and his life was filled with choirs, quartets, duets and solos from that time on.  Praise for Jesus was always in his heart and on his lips. He married Edith Parker on July 22, 1944.  Together they raised 4 boys on the farm and encouraged their exploits in baseball, basketball and football.  Robert took up tennis and pool in retirement and became quite a legend in both. He went to college for one year and then decided to return to farming as a career.  He was involved in the Drayton Public School board and drove school bus.  He enjoyed involvement in the Drayton Curling Club as well.  By his own testimony he was born again into God's family through faith in Jesus Christ at the age of 19. That led him into a journey of teaching Bible classes, lay preaching and involvement in men's prayer groups.  About 25 years ago he helped initiate a men's prayer group in Arizona that continues to draw about 100 men during the winter months. He enjoyed about 45 years as a snowbird.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Anna Belle; his sister, Helen; his brother, Lloyd; his wife, Edith and his oldest son, Charles.  He is survived by Richard (Shirley) of Drayton, ND, Clinton ( Reiko deceased) of Drayton, Paul (Marcia) of Maple Plain, MN and Charles' wife, Sheila of Drayton. He had 9 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Drayton United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service.
