Robert Bockwitz, 75, of Humboldt, Minnesota passed away at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock, Minnesota on Friday, May 27, 2022.
Robert was born in Hallock on June 2, 1946 the son of Virgil and Elvera (Paulson) Bockwitz. Bob grew up in Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1964. On June 18, 1966 he was united in marriage to Judy Isakson in Duluth, Minnesota. Bob worked as crop duster for many years and also transported buses for Motor Coach Industries traveling to many parts of the U.S. On December 14, 1979 he was united in marriage to Kristi Laude.
Bob began playing the piano as a young child and served as the organist at the United Methodist Church in Humboldt where he was a lifelong member. He was an avid stock car racer and traveled to tracks in Hallock, Winnipeg, Grand Forks and other communities to race. Bob retired in 2012, but kept busy driving party buses up until earlier this year. He also drove truck during beet harvest, a job he loved.
Family members include a daughter, Deanna (Geoff) Swendseid, Stephen, MN; a son, Devyn (Meghan) Bockwitz, Cass Lake, MN; four grandchildren, Brandee (Brad Rivard) Kuznia, Logan (Erica Thomsen) Swendseid, Hunter (Kat) Swendseid, and Kennedy (Charlotte Hatch) Swendseid; great grandchildren, Luke Kuznia and Ford Kuznia, honorary great grandchildren, Alexis Hruza and Gavin Hruza; a brother, Rodney Bockwitz, Humboldt; sisters, Virginia (Can) Bockwitz, Topeka, KS and Karen (Pete) Danilaitis, Mt. Juliette, TN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Audrey Bockwitz; former wife, Judy; and sisters, Jewell and Madrene.
Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, June 12, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the United Methodist Church, Humboldt. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service. Rev. Gary Johnson and Rev. Mike Schendel, presiding.
