Reta "Louise" Scott, 72, of Pembina, North Dakota passed away Tuesday morning, April 2, 2013 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. Reta Louise Finney was born March 2, 1941 at St. Vincent, Minnesota to Ward and Ruby (Turner) Finney. She attended school in Humboldt, Minnesota, graduating in 1959. On December 8, 1963 she married Robert Scott, a U.S. Border Patrol agent, at the North Star Church, rural St. Vincent. Louise was employed at Northwestern State Bank in Hallock, Minnesota, KCND TV and manager of the Gift Shop at Exports Inc. in Pembina. She was an individual of deep faith and a longtime member of Pembina United Methodist Church. Her favorite pastime was playing piano, a talent she cultivated at a young age in the North Star Church playing for Sunday services. Louise also enjoyed listening to and performing music. In the 1960's she was a member of a rock and roll band called the "Charms". In April of 2007 she was part of that group to be inducted into the Minnesota Rock and Country Hall of Fame. She enjoyed visiting casinos, going to concerts and debating about current events and politics. Louise also sponsored children through Compassion International. Her quick sense of humor was appreciated by many people. Even through her many years of illness, she retained the ability to lift other peoples' spirits when they would visit her. Family members include two sisters, Lucille Chale, Pembina and Ethel (Tom) Kinsella, Reuter, MO; two brothers, Douglas (Sharryn) Finney, Pembina and Keith (Sandy) Finney, Mayville, ND; special friend, Warren Hauert; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, who passed away on August 6, 1997; parents; half sisters, Dorothy Huso and Kathryn Gibson and half brother, Max Finney. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, April 5, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in the Evangelical Free Church at Pembina. Interment will be in St. Vincent Cemetery, St. Vincent, Minnesota. Rev. Mason Peters and Rev. Gary Johnson, presiding. Special music provided by the Popple Ridge Pickers. Casket bearers will be Danny Stanhope, Garrett Masloski, Brent Cosley, John Finney, Bob Grube and Chad Cosley. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Evangelical Free Church with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service.
