Raymond Altendorf, 76, of Drayton, North Dakota passed away at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks on Wednesday evening, July 31, 2013. Ray was born at Grafton North Dakota on May 23, 1937 to Francis and Laura (Poole) Altendorf. He grew up in the Grafton area and graduated from Grafton High School in 1955. On October 25, 1960 he married the love of his life, Rose Rolczynski at Olso, Minnesota. They settled near Grafton and lived there until 1969 when they moved to Drayton. Ray farmed for several years and worked at American Crystal Sugar Company as storeroom floor man, union representative and union secretary. He retired in 1995. Raymond enjoyed fishing at his summer home in Baudette, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Rose; a son, Duane Joseph Altendorf, St. Thomas, ND; daughters, Cathyrine Altendorf, Fargo, ND and Michelle (Dale) Ososki, Grand Forks, ND; seven grandchildren, Tanner, Tyler, Heather, Melissa, Stephanie, Allison and Connor; two great granddaughters, Stella and Nora; a brother, Elmer (Doris) Altendorf, Minto, ND and a special friend, "Snickers". He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis in 1975; his parents; and a brother, Leo. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Edward's Catholic Church at Drayton. Interment will be in St. Edward's Cemetery. Rev. Joseph Okogba, presiding; Charleen Altendorf, reader; and Earlene Lasch, organist. Casket bearers will be Raymond's grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Austin Funeral Home in Drayton on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
