Ray White, 67, of Karlstad, Minnesota passed away at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks on Sunday evening, November 17th, 2013. Ray Allen White was born October 30, 1946 at Bemidji, Minnesota to Elmer and Myrl (Pederson) White. He grew up in Puposky, Minnesota and attended school in Bemidji. Ray graduated from Bemidji High School in 1964 and went on to attend Staples Vocational Technical Institute in Staples, Minnesota. He married Corrine Mills. Ray worked for Farmers Union in Bemidji before taking a job with Otter Tail Power Company. Ray transfered to Karlstad in the early 1970's. On July 25th, 1992 Ray married Betty Sollund at Karlstad. He retired from Otter Tail in 1995 because of failing health. Ray loved spending time with family and friends and was always on the go, playing in three different bands, teaching fire arm safety (for 25 years), serving as a volunteer fireman, playing cards, hunting and fishing. Ray was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, the Karlstad Golf Club and the Eagles. Family members include his wife, Betty; daughters, Heidi (KJ) Kippenhan, Hibbing, MN and Andrea (Clayton Brown) White, Fairplay, CO; sons, Erik White, Hibbing, MN and Brandon (Tara) Anderson, Minneapolis, MN; four grandchildren, Jordan, Joshua, Chloe and Evelyn; a brother, Lyle, (Colleen) White, Hibbing. He was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew, Kevin; and mother-in-law, Gladys Sollund. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Bethel Lutheran Church at Karlstad. Interment will be in Eidsvold Cemetery at Halma, Minnesota. Rev. Mitch Tolpingrud, presiding; Gary and Howard Hodne, duet; Kathy Englund, organist. Honorary casket bearers will be all those in attendance. Visitation will be held at Austin Funeral Chapel in Hallock on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
