Ray Emanuelson, 93, a lifelong Drayton area farmer, passed away at Woodside Village in Grand Forks on Saturday evening, February 23rd, 2013. Ray Hem Emanuelson was born April 6, 1919 to Christian and Ida (Hem) Emanuelson on the family farm in Drayton Township. He was baptized in Skjeberg Lutheran Church June 10, 1919. Ray attended country schools in Teien and Drayton Townships, graduating from Drayton High School in 1937. On June 19th, 1955 he married Vivian Maurstad at the Drayton Lutheran Church. They farmed in the Drayton area for many years, retiring after their children took over the farming operation. Vivian passed away in 1995. Ray was a member of Drayton Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He was also a Drayton Township supervisor. Ray enjoyed working the land and everyday his boys would see him driving by to check things out. He was an avid curler, league pool player, bingo player and collected antiques that included, saws, scales and tractors. Family members include his children, Katherine (Robert) Knoff, Drayton, Randall Emanuelson, Drayton, Gregory (friend Brenda) Emanuelson, Drayton, Kristi (Dana Howe) Emanuelson, Aurora, CO and Michael (Tracy) Emanuelson, Drayton; 9 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and two step grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vivian, brother, Ernest; and Ray and Ernest''s second mother" Anna Skog. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, March 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Drayton Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Skjeberg Lutheran Cemetery, rural Drayton. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening at the Austin Funeral Chapel in Drayton from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
