Obituary

Phoebe Anderson age 93 of Drayton, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017.  Phoebe was born June 19, 1924 in Lincoln Township of Pembina County North Dakota to Dan and Frances (Kliniske) Staskivige.  She attended school in Lincoln Township District #13.  On December 11, 1945 she married Orville Anderson at Grafton, North Dakota. They had two children, Susan (Anderson) Grzadzieleski and Patrick Anderson.  The couple lived in Tioga, North Dakota until 1965. After her husband passed away she moved back home to Drayton.  She obtained her GED, attended Lake Region Jr. College and graduated from nurses training as a LPN on January 18, 1972.  She was employed at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Drayton for ten years and at the Developmental Center in Grafton for 17 years.  She was baptized, made her First Communion and was confirmed at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Drayton.  Phoebe was a lector, communion minister, choir member and made spiritual visits at the nursing home for members of her church.  She also was a member of the Altar Society and American Legion Auxiliary.  Phoebe enjoyed reading, playing cards and baseball.  She loved her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She had many friends. Her saying was "You can never have enough friends".

Survivors include grandsons, Andy Grzadzieleski, Derek Grzadzieleski and Patrick Anderson; a son-in-law, James Grzadzieleski; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville;  daughter, Susan; son, Patrick; sister, Alvina (Carl) Herseth; brothers Alex (Betty) Staskivige and Daniel (Verneil) Staskvige; and parents, Dan and Frances.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Edward's Catholic Church, Drayton. Interment will be in St. Edward's Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the funeral service. Fr. Joseph Okogba, and Deacon Mike Grzadzielewski, presiding; Sally Kliniske, organist; Karen Schumacher and Shirley VanCamp, duet. Casket bearers will be Andy and Derek Grzadzieleski, Gerald and Richard Staskivige, Charles Herseth, Jim Grzadzieleski.
