Norma Jean
Sandquist
Oct 26, 1934 — Oct 14, 2024
Drayton
Norma Jean Sandquist of Drayton, ND, passed away on October 14, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. She was born in LaCrosse, KS, to Leslie and Mollie Yeager on October 26, 1934. She attended school in various towns in Kansas, graduating from high school at Enterprise Academy in Abilene, KS.
Norma will be remembered for her tender heart and the way her faith balanced her daily life. She had a passion for helping people, which led her to pursue nursing as a career, graduating from Union College in 1957. This was a perfect fit for her loving and nurturing personality, resulting in many patients requesting Norma to be their nurse! She was a registered nurse for 49 years.
Throughout the majority of her life, Norma was a very active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She devoted much of her time to Bible studies, outreach activities, and going on several mission trips – something she wished she was able to do more of in her later life. All of her friends and family knew how much she enjoyed crafts, such as making cards, reading, tending to her garden and flowerbeds, and her love of horses. Above all, though, she prioritized her time with family and her relationship with the Lord.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, John Sandquist, her brother, Daryl Yeager, and her parents, Leslie and Mollie Yeager. She is survived by her son, Stephen (Lara) Sandquist, her daughters, Lisa (Kurt) Kraulik and Erica Sandquist, along with her 8 grandchildren (Amanda, Kyle, Kimberly, Kia, Karissa, Marissa, Kylie, and Braxton) and 3 great grandchildren (William, Vincent, and Lukas).
The memory of Norma will live on in the hearts of those who loved her and will be greatly missed by many. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Maranatha Volunteers International at maranatha.org.
A memorial service will be held Monday, October 21, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Karlstad, MN.
