Neil David Johnson, 69, passed away at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota, on May 10, 2014. Neil was born November 17, 1944 to Stanley and Inez (Anderson) Johnson in Hallock, Minnesota. He grew up in Hallock and graduated from Hallock High School in 1962. He attended the University of Minnesota and received his Aeronautical Engineering degree in May 1966. After graduating he worked at Boeing in Seattle, Washington. On November 25, 1966 Neil and Marcia Dahl were married at Grace Lutheran Church in Hallock. In 1968 they moved from Seattle back to Minneapolis for Neil to attend graduate school at the U of M. He returned to Boeing in 1969 and worked as an stress analyst. In April of 1976 he returned to Hallock to farm with his father, Stanley, and uncle, Gordon Johnson. He served on the Hallock school board, Hallock Township board, Hallock Oak Ridge Golf board, was president of the Northcote Farmers Co-op Elevator Association and served as a director on the Minn-Dak Growers board. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Lion's Club, the Hallock Curling Club, the Hallock Eagles and was a member of the Hallock Centennial Committee in 1983. Neil's interests were many and varied. He did everything from bee keeping to car rallying and loved crossword puzzles, reading, woodworking, fishing, camping, the theater, and visiting with friends and family. But most important was his love of family and spending time with them. He is survived by his wife, Marcy; daughters, Kim, Minneapolis and Jennifer (Gary) Moeller, Baudette; granddaughters, Ally, Tate and Greta Moeller; his sister, Marcia Pederson, Moorhead; his brother, Lowell (Andrea), Lake Elmo; his aunts Dorothy Brakken, Williston ND; Eleanore Becken, Coon Rapids; Grace Anderson, West Fargo; Muriel Johnson, Hallock and nieces, nephews and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Inez Johnson. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, May 16th at 11:00 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church at Hallock. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock. Visitation will be held at the Austin Funeral Chapel on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
