Minnie E. Larson, formerly of Hallock, MN, passed away on March 18, 2013 at the Daniels Memorial Nursing Home in Scobey, MT, where she had been living for the past 3 ½ years. Minnie was 100 years old. Minnie was born on December 4, 1912 on the farm near Badger, MN, to Andrew O. and Christina Erickson. She grew up near Badger and often talked about her 4-H experience of taking her prize calf to the State Fair. She graduated from Badger High School and Moorhead Teachers College, Moorhead, MN. She taught school for a few years before landing a job in Kennedy, MN, where she met Winslow Larson. They were married August 28, 1942, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Winslow went off to the war and she worked while waiting for him to come home. Then they headed home and purchased a restaurant in Kennedy, MN, and eventually moved to Hallock and owned and operated Kittson Motors. On April 23, 1949, they were blessed with their only son, Gregory Andrew. When Greg got to eighth grade, she took a job with FSA and worked there until retirement. She enjoyed the time spent at their place at the Lake of the Woods near Baudette, MN, and caught many fish in her day. She was expert at cooking the fish too. She and Winslow enjoyed 12 wonderful winters in Mesa, AZ after retiring. She was part of Grace Lutheran in Hallock and Bethany Lutheran in East Grand Forks. She enjoyed making crafts of many different types over the years and anyone that received one of them knew she had spent many hours laboring over it and was a perfectionist. They were beautiful. After Winslow's passing in 1988, she moved into East Grand Forks, MN, where her two sisters, Tilda and Hilda, were living across the hall from each other in an apartment building. The apartment next door just happened to be available just when she needed to relocate. They spent nine fun loving years together until the flood of 1997 forced them apart. At that time, Hilda and Minnie moved to Grand Forks, ND, to share an apartment until another one became open as there was nothing else available, but they never wanted to split up so remained living together until August 2009 when they each went their own way to nursing homes. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Winslow, her only son, Greg, three brothers, and three sisters. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Ingrid of Scobey, MT, her grandson, Greg (Niki) and three great grandsons, Cristopher, Sawyer and Bridger of Scobey, MT, and her granddaughter, Nichole Bebee (Tyler) of Kalispell, MT, sister-in-law Julie Larson, brothers-in-law Mark Baldwin and Leland Larson, and several nieces an nephews who were always special to her. Her service will be at Maria Lutheran Church, Kennedy, MN, on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at 2:00 PM, with internment at the Kennedy Cemetary. Pallbearers will be Greg Larson, Cristopher Larson, Eugene Mattson, Robert Larson, Jim Larson and Jay Larson.
