Obituary

MaryAnn Evangeline Henrickson, 82, of Stephen, Minnesota passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Center in Park River, North Dakota. MaryAnn Berg was born on November 12, 1929 to Albert and Mary (Benson) Berg, at the family home in rural Stephen, Minnesota. She was the youngest of 12 children. MaryAnn grew up on the farm, attended country school and graduated from Karlstad High School in 1948. She graduated from Cosmetology School in Minneapolis, Minnesota in September of 1950. She married Jerley Henrickson at Salem Lutheran Church on October 28, 1951. Jerley and MaryAnn lived at West Point when Jerley was stationed there in the service. They also lived in Elgin, Illinois for a short time. Jerley and MaryAnn shared their life farming near Stephen, traveling and making crafts. MaryAnn was active in her church, Salem Lutheran. She sewed clothes for her children and made many, many quilts. She enjoyed cooking and baking. MaryAnn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Cathy (Dave) Johnson, Park River, ND, Wendy (John) Oistad, Hoople, ND, Todd (Shirley) Henrickson, Stephen and Terry (Shannon) Henrickson, Argyle, MN; 12 grandchildren, DeeJay (Shannon), Mari (Jamie), Kristin, Jana, Sally (Dan), Riley, Reece, Robyn, Rebekah, Rhett, Taryn (Chad) and Bryce; and six great grandchildren, Jaylie, Tucker, Jayce, Mason, Maddox and Lilly. She was preceded in death by her husband and her 11 siblings. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, September 11th, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Lutheran Church at Stephen. Interment will be in the Stephen City Cemetery. Rev. Mike Schendel, presiding. Rene Jensen, organist and Doug Olson, soloist. Honorary casket bearers will be Salem Friends and Neighbors. Casket bearers will be MaryAnn's grandsons, Riley Henrickson, Reece Henrickson, Rhett Henrickson, Bryce Henrickson and DeeJay Johnson. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday evening from 6 to 8 :00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be a one hour visitation prior to the service on Tuesday. The Austin Funeral Home of Stephen is in charge of arrangements.
