Marion Mattson, 92, of Kennedy, Minnesota passed away at Sanford Hospital in Thief River Falls, Minnesota on Friday, November 16, 2012. Marion Elaine Anderson was born December 12, 1919 in Karlstad, Minnesota to Selmer and Christine Anderson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and attended her 12 years of school at Karlstad. Marion worked at Turnwall's General Store in Karlstad after school. She then moved to Minneapolis and worked at Honeywell. On November 29, 1945 she was united in marriage to Arnold Mattson and made their home in Kennedy for 55 years. As partners their life work was farming. Marion also worked at the Kennedy Star for several years. Arnold died on September 13, 2000. Marion sold the family home spring of 2009 and moved to the Meadows in Karlstad. Marion is survived by her brother, Allen (Marion) Anderson, nieces, Janice (Doug) Wikstrom, Connie (David) Oistad, Beryl Germundson, Anita Germundson and Carolyn (Anderson) Pelkey; nephews, Sidney Germundson, Orlin Anderson and Arlen Anderson. She was preceded in death by a brother, Orville Anderson, sister-in-law, Jane Anderson; a sister, Bernice Germundson and brother-in-law, Kenneth Germundson. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, November 19th, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in Maria Lutheran Church, Kennedy. Interment will be in the Kennedy Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the funeral service. Pastor Kathy Levenhagen, presiding; Kirsten Anderson, soloist and Sharlene Klegstad, organist. Casket bearers will be Sid Germundson, Orlin Anderson, Earl Mattson, Allen Renville, John Webster, Doug Wikstrom and David Oistad. Honorary casket bearers will be Janice Wikstrom, Connie Oistad, Beryl Germundson, Anita Germundson, Arlen Anderson, Carolyn Anderson and Kay Renville.
