Obituary

Lyle "Dean" Dagen, 84, of Humboldt, Minnesota passed away early Tuesday morning, September 3, 2019 at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in  Hallock.

Dean was born February 15, 1935 in Hallock to Lyle and Mildred (Pierce) Dagen.  He grew up near Halma and attended school in Lake Bronson, Minnesota.  Dean served with the U.S. Army in Europe and upon his completion of military service he returned home to begin working on area farms in Kittson County.  On December 20, 1968 he was united in marriage to Mabel Haglund at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. The couple settled near Karlstad, Minnesota and in 1972 moved to St. Vincent, Minnesota. Dean began working at the Reynold Ward farm and 1982 they moved to their current home in Humboldt.  Dean worked for the Marshall Hemmes farm until his full retirement at the age of 82. Even in retirement Dean continued to do the mowing for the community of Humboldt.  He was a member of the Humboldt Methodist Church and the Hallock American Legion.

Dean is survived by his wife, Mabel; daughters, Debbie (Robert) Fritz, Pembina, ND, Judy (Kevin) Martens, St. Hilaire, MN, Lyla (John) Hancock,  Pembina and Dorie Abrahamson, Prior Lake, MN; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a sister, Shelby-Jean (LaMar) Johnson, Kennedy, MN;
brothers, Derallys Dagen in Texas, Lany Dagen in Oregon and Bernie Dagen, Houston, TX;  a step sister, Diane Solem in Nevada as well as nieces and nephews.  He was  preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dale and Donald and sisters, Sharynn, Jillayne and Sandy.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, September 6, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in Humboldt Methodist Church.  Interment will be in the St. Vincent  Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service.  Rev. Gary Johnson, presiding.  Bob Bockwitz, organist and Erik Finney, soloist. Casket bearers will be Marshall Hemmes, David Hemmes, Roger Loer, Robert Fritz, Kevin Martens, John Hancock and Ron Ohmann.
