Lorraine Setterholm, 98, of Stephen, Minnesota passed away at Valley
Eldercare in Grand Forks on Saturday, August 5, 2017. Lorraine Inez
Holmstrom was born February 26, 1919 at Strandquist, Minnesota to Victor
and Pearl (Swedberg) Holmstrom. She grew up at Strandquist and attended
the Oakridge country school. After completing her education she worked
as a housekeeper for several years. On November 18, 1937 she was united
in marriage to Kenneth Setterholm at the Salem Lutheran Church
parsonage. The couple settled near Stephen and farmed there for many
years. Lorraine and Kenneth moved into Stephen in 1975. Kenneth passed
away on June 21, 1996. Lorraine was a very active member of the First
Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Cozy Clan Homemakers
Club, the Stephen Garden Club and various other community groups.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Muriel (Lowell) Bring, Stephen,
Duane (Shirley) Setterholm, Chester, SD and Arlet (Arnold) Phillips,
East Grand Forks, MN; 14 grandchildren, Wendy (Craig) Hvidsten, Kellene
(Brian) Neuharth, Kristen (Marty) Kolker, Connie Amundson,
Machelle (Todd) Lind, Paul (Gina) Setterholm, Coralie (Brendyn) Richards,
Brant (Nicole) Setterholm, Jannelle Essoraoui, Ronda Owens, Michael
(Stephanie) Pagnac, Lee (Cheri) Pagnac, Chad (Courtney) Phillips and
Holly (Kent) Wavra; 26 great grandchildren; sisters, Eileen Atkinson,
Harrison, Arkansas, Jean Maurstad, Warren and Iris (Arnie) Maurstad,
Argyle; a brother, Dean Holmstrom, Strandquist; and sisters-in-law,
Maxine Holmstrom, Strandquist, Eileen Engen, Warren, and Delores
Setterholm, Argyle. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband,
Kenneth; a daughter, Avis Pagnac; infant sister, Verna and sister,
Verna; brothers, Leonard and Donald and a great great grandson.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, August 11, 2017 at 10:00
a.m. in First Lutheran Church, Stephen. Interment will be in the Stephen
city cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday evening
from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. and on Friday for
one hour prior to the service. Rev. Michael Schendel, presiding.
