Linda Evenson, 76, of Erskine, MN, passed away on May 14, 2026.

Linda Kay (Simonson) Evenson was born October 24, 1949 at Cando, North Dakota to Earl and Catherine (Windjue) Simonson. She grew up in Mentor, Minnesota where she attended school and graduated in 1967.  Linda had a happy childhood on the farm with all her siblings. Her Grandpa John would drive them to school in his manure truck, so the girls would make him park down the street to get out so no one would see.

After graduation, Linda lived in several towns until she settled in Erskine in the early '70s. Starting out with her four children, alone, it was not easy for her, but she made sure her children were taken care of. It wasn't long before she met and "tolerated" the love of her life, Steve Evenson. After 7 short years, he manned up and made them a legal family of 6. They were united in marriage on February 14, 1981, in Winger, Minnesota, surrounded by family.

Life was busy with school, sporting events, and day-to-day activities. Summers were always spent camping at Union Lake and taking field trips through the woods behind their house. Linda was a cook at Erskine School, where all the students called her Ma. She was always chaperoning dances and was the first on the dance floor. After working at the school, Linda went to work at Pioneer Memorial Care in Erskine. She worked there for almost 30 years helping with many activities, dancing with the residents, and making lifelong friendships. She retired from the care center to spend more time with her grandchildren.

Linda had many hobbies. She enjoyed scrapbooking and made many albums for her grandchildren of their adventures. Linda ran a ceramic shop along with her husband at their home. Many friendships were made with the ladies who attended and a few glasses of wine were drunk. Many hours were also spent making homemade cards at her kitchen table.

Due to a stroke on March 5, 2021, Linda was confined to a wheelchair for the remainder of her life.  She always made the best of the situation so she took advantage of spending more time visiting with Steve and grandchildren. The shenanigans between herself and her granddaughter, Kenzie, were enough to drive Steve to spend more time outside.

Linda is survived by her loving partner in crime of 53 years, Steve; 3 sons, Lonnie, Scott (Lisa), and Steven; a daughter, Jennifer; grandchildren, Dustin (Andria), Abby, Samantha (Scott), Alex (Brooke), Austin, Niles, Noah, Nevaeh, Makenzie (Connor), Joshua  (Laila) and Dominic; great grandchildren, Brielle, Hunter, and Sawyer; sisters, Trudy (Lee) and Cindy (Gene); brothers, Rory and Cory (Heather); and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, John and Ocie Simonson, George and Ethel Windjue; a grandson, Superman Nash; a sister, Cathy Bruggeman; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Simonson and Cathy Evenson; and in-laws, Robert and Maude Evenson.

Linda will be missed deeply and always cherished by her family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 27th at the Erskine Community Center from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. with a time of prayer and sharing at 2:00 p.m.
