Linda Anderson, 67, Hallock, Minn., passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at Sanford Hospital, Fargo, N.D.
Linda Louise was born November 12, 1948 to Luverne and Doris (Olson) Gjovik. She attended school in Lake Bronson, Minn. until 1962 when her family moved to Hallock. She graduated from Hallock High School in 1966. In the fall of 1967 she and her sister, Lorie, moved to St. Paul, Minn., where they both found secretarial jobs with Thermal Company. While in the cities, she was active in Sweet Adelines and sang in the choir at church. She also worked for Minne-Mine Credit Union before moving to Hutchinson, Minn., where she continued to work for a branch of the company. In 1977, she returned to Hallock, Minn. and was employed at the Kittson County Courthouse. She was the first woman elected to the Hallock City Council and served as mayor pro-tem in 1981. Linda was married to Paul Anderson, Lake Bronson, Minn., October 6, 1979. Together they raised two children, Brady and Lindsay. Linda began a baking business and baked many wedding and birthday cakes and will be remembered for her delicious frosting and beautifully decorated cakes. She retired from baking and worked at the First Presbyterian Church, Hallock, where she was a member, retiring in February 2013. She was very active in all levels of the Presbyterian Women. In her spare time, Linda loved to sew and made many beautiful quilts, which were displayed at JoAnn's Fabrics, Grand Forks, N.D. She sewed clothing for her children, grandchildren and many others. Her elegant handwriting was just one example of her artistic ability, which she used to create many beautiful items. She was grandmother to five beautiful grandchildren, whom she adored and enjoyed spending time listening to their stories.
Linda will be missed by her husband, Paul, children, Brady (Ivy) Anderson, Grand Forks, N.D.; Lindsay Anderson, Fargo, N.D.; grandchildren, Dylan, Isabell and Zachary Jenkins, Laural and Aydin; sisters, Lorie (Tom) Etter, Stillwater, Minn., Margie (Steve) Holmgren, Kennedy, Minn.; brothers, Richard (Peggy) Gjovik, Hallock, Minn., Ron (Twyla) Gjovik, Williams, Minn.; Linda's best friend, Connie (Tage) Johnson, Hallock; step-sister, Jan (Myron) Sele, Appleton, Wis.; step-brother, Jim (Linda) Erickson, Hot Springs Village, Ark.; brothers-in-law, Arlen Anderson, David (Lynne) Anderson, Gerald (Bonnie) Anderson; uncles, Lawrence Olson and Leonard (Betty) Olson; nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Alvin Erickson; step-sister, Jeanne Erickson, and two uncles.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Hallock, with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Marge Landwehr presiding. Music was provided by Sue Albrecht, soloist and Kristi Morrison, pianist.
Pallbearers were her nephews, Sam Holmgren, Matt Gjovik, Kevin Gjovik, Conrad Gjovik, Brett Anderson, Ryan Anderson, and Terry Anderson.
