LaMar Curtis Johnson went to be with the Lord on March 18th, 2024, as he held his loving wife's hand. He was born July 12, 1933 to Clarence and Edith Johnson on the farm in Jupiter township near Kennedy. He graduated 8th grade from the Grant Country School, then from the Karlstad High School in '51.

On Oct 14, 1952, LaMar married Audrey Spilde. He was drafted into the army and went to basic training the fall of '53. He served as General Gavin's chauffeur for two years at the Pentagon in Washington DC. After serving his country, he returned to Jupiter Township to continue farming with his dad and sons until he retired. Lamar loved his job raising potatoes, small grains, feeder cattle and hogs.

LaMar raised his four children with a love of horse shows, fishing, and camping. LaMar and Audrey enjoyed attending their children's many activities. Family meant the world to LaMar. He served as a 4-H leader for the Jupiter Busy Bees, treasurer of the Kittson County 4-H Council, President of the Kittson Saddle Club, Director on the Red River Valley Potato Board, served in various leadership positions on the Eidsvold church council, and was a charter member of Resurrection Community Church. For many years he served on the board of Directors of Cenex-Lake Bronson, and served as Chairman on the FHA board. LaMar was Kittson County King Aggasiz in 1974 and in 1991 Lamar and Audrey were recognized as Kittson County Farm family of the year.

LaMar and Audrey enjoyed square dancing and spending their winters in Texas. Favorite past times also included spending days and evenings in their screen house with a campfire, while entertaining friends and family. He also enjoyed working in his garden, picking and canning his
raspberries and feeding and watching the birds.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Audrey; children Timothy (Sue) Johnson, Lenore ID; Suzanne (Rob) Bowen, Bell Buckle, TN; Stephanie Johnson, Grand Forks, ND; Nathan (Lisa) Johnson, Kennedy, MN. Grandchildren Andy (Cenone), Adam (Karie), Codie, Jodie, Ben, Melanie; Dustin, Bethaney (Zack), Kelsey (Kole), Lauren (Jake), Kiersti; 13 Great Grandchildren and two sisters: Yvonne Schulte and Bernice Wetterlund; as well as many special nieces and nephews. LaMar was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Clare; two sisters, Almae Henderson and Vivian Hjeldness/Winge; one great grandson, Elijah Davis.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, March 22nd, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. in Resurrection Community Church, Karlstad, MN. Interment will be in Jupiter Mission Cemetery, rural Kennedy. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service.
