Obituary

Julie Webster, 60, died Tuesday December 8, 2015 surrounded by family at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Julie Lynn Webster was born September 23, 1955 at Hallock, MN to Rodney and Jean (Anderson) Webster. She was the middle child of three. Julie grew up on a farm near St. Vincent, MN and graduated from Humboldt High School. Growing up Julie was active in church and 4-H, including earning trips to the State Fair. She valued time at Camp Courage in the summers and wasn't afraid to try anything. Julie went on to earn a two-year degree from Oak Hills Christian College, Bemidji, MN and a Bachelor of Science degree in vocational rehabilitation from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Menomonie. Julie said her educational background gave her the self-confidence to stand for her rights as a person with a disability. She said that she tried to meet discrimination with humor and understanding.

After college, Julie's career took her to employment at the North Dakota Developmental Center in Grafton as a vocational trainer technician, retiring in 2010. For 29 years she provided productive work for clients with developmental disabilities at Dakota East. She assisted in training programs for the clients to help them attain their goals and reach their work potential.

Her faith and church family were very important to her. Julie was a charter member of her current church and participated in Women's Ministries. She also was involved with Sunday School and Awana club. In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling, cheering on the Bison and Vikings, and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed visits and videos of her great nephews and great niece.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brother Gary (Lori) Webster St. Vincent, MN, sister Lori (Mark) Ellison Elbow Lake, MN, nephew Jason (Shannon) Webster Minot, ND, niece Amy (Scott) Weinlaeder Grafton, ND, nephews Evan and Ross Ellison Fargo, ND, great-niece Gracen Weinlaeder, great-nephews Quinn Weinlaeder and Cole Webster and step-mother Clarice Webster.
