John Edward Money was born on December 28, 1954 in Fargo, ND to John F. and Betty Money and passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at his home in Hallock MN. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Hallock.
John grew up in Hallock and graduated from Hallock High School in 1973. He enjoyed playing football and hockey. He went on to attend college at the University of Minnesota Crookston and played on the 1973 football team that finished 1st in the State and 4th in the nation. John graduated in 1975 from UMC with an Associate Degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management.
He moved to California and managed a "Red Barn" restaurant. He then moved to Matunuck, Rhode Island and was a chef at several restaurants and supper clubs for over 30 years. In 2010 he returned to Hallock, working in the kitchen at local restaurants.
John will be remembered for his outgoing personality and ability to befriend just about anyone. He always had a positive outlook on life. Throughout his travels and through his profession he made many friends.
John is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Money and a brother, Chris Money. He is survived by his father, John F. Money, Hallock, siblings Kathy (John) Sproat, St. Paul, MN, David (Ann) Money, Houston, TX, Marty (Jim) Durso, Grand Forks, ND, Dale Money, Badger, MN and Dan (Louise) Money, Hallock, MN and various nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services for John are scheduled for Thursday, June 24, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, Hallock. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service.
