Joanne Laude, 85, of Hallock, Minnesota passed away on Sunday afternoon, March 2, 2014. Joanne was born February 8, 1929 in Kennedy, Minnesota to Art and Alma Swenson. She married Delmar Laude on March 16, 1947. They resided south of Kennedy on a small farm while raising their family and then moved into their home in Kennedy. In 2008, Joanne moved to an apartment in Hallock where she enjoyed being close to her family and friends. In 2010, Joanne moved to Rivers Edge Assisted Living where she enjoyed all the activities, companionship, and excellent care. She loved playing cards, Scrabble, and Bingo with all of her friends. The loss of her sight lead to her move to the nursing home where she spent her last few days. Joanne met many friends through her work at the Hallock Nursing Home, Arctic Cat, and selling Avon. She loved company and always welcomed everyone to her home. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be greatly missed. She is survived by three children, DelAnn (Ernie) Ohlin, Las Vegas, Nevada, Kris (Cameron) Wilwand, Pembina, North Dakota, and Mary (Darnell) Winkler, St. Vincent, Minnesota; two sisters, Donna Sandstrom, St. Paul, Minnesota, and Mary Jean Holland, Oolpewah, Tennessee; nine grandchildren, Dayn Laude, Dustyn Laude, Matthew Laude, Mysti Laude Schalamon, Angela Younggren, Christina Brady, Devyn Bockwitz, Jennifer Miller, Brittany Miller and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Alma Swenson, husband, Delmar Laude, brother, James Swenson, and son, Gary Laude. Memorial services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Hallock on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Galen Nordin, presiding; special music provided by the Popple Ridge Pickers.
