Jesse McGovern, 29, of Hallock, Minnesota passed away at his home on Sunday, May 25th, 2014. Jesse Allen McGovern was born at Hallock February 24, 1985 to Billy and Colleen (Johnson) McGovern. He was baptized and confirmed in Grace Lutheran Church. Jesse attended Kittson Central High School and played hockey there, graduating in 2003. Jesse went on to attend Alexandria Vocational Technical Institute and graduated from the Diesel Mechanics program. On July 22, 2006 he was united in marriage to Abby Elfstrom at Hallock. They settled in Alexandria and Jesse worked for Steussy Diesel there. Jesse and Abby moved back to Hallock to farm in June of 2013. He was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church. Jesse loved to fish and knew all the lakes around Alexandria. He also enjoyed hunting and NASCAR, often taping the races when he didn't have time to watch and avoiding anyone who might know the outcome of the race. He is survived by his loving wife, Abby; two beautiful children, Landon and Aubrey; his parents, Billy and Colleen; Hallock; a brother, Christopher, Denver, CO; his maternal grandmother, Marjorie Johnson, Hallock; in-laws, Roger and Brenda Elfstrom, Lancaster; sister-in-law, Nicki (Mike Fitzgerald) Elfstrom and nephews, Hunter and Avery, Pembina, ND; brother-in-law, Ethan Elfstrom, Fargo, ND; Abby's grandmother, Doreen White, Grand Forks; aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Willis and Anne McGovern; maternal grandfather, Louis Johnson; and an uncle, Richard McGovern. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, May 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, Hallock. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock. Rev. Frank Johnson and Rev. Galen Nordin, presiding. Special music will be performed Galen Nordin, soloist and Renee Wahl, organist. Honorary casket bearers will be Jesse's many friends. Casket bearers will be Travis Peterson, James Satterlund, Jason Satterlund, Paul Johnson, Brent Johnson and Alex Moore. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
