Jean Lileks, 89, of Hallock, Minnesota passed away at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock on Monday, November 11, 2013. Jean Ann Sandul was born February 16, 1924 to William and Anna (Merenik) Sandul in Caribou Township of Kittson County. Jean was one of 11 children. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. On October 7, 1950 she was united in marriage to Samuel Lileks. The couple moved to Fargo and Sam began working for Northern States Power. In 1960 they moved to Lancaster, Minnesota and raised their family there. Sam passed away in 1973. Jean lived at Manor apartments in both Hallock and Kennedy, Minnesota. She enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Center and Bible Study. Jean was an excellent weaver and made baskets and placemats which she gave as gifts and keepsakes. She entered Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center on July 21, 2000. She is survived by a son, Russell, Thief River Falls, MM; daughters, Nancy, Bemidji, MN, Dawalla and Debbi, both of Hallock; five grandchildren, Robert, Randy, Troy, Patrick and Tina; eight great grandchildren, Shelbi, Donovan, Derrick, Samuel, Isaac, Jacob, Tyler and Conrad; and nieces and nephews. Memorial services are scheduled for Friday, November 15, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, Hallock. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Rev. Frank Johnson, presiding; Rene Wahl, organist; Karen Vold and Jillayne Kraska duet. Honorary casket bearers will be Jean's grandchildren and great grandchildren.
