Janette K. Johnson, 85, of Hallock; passed away Monday September 9th at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center. She was born November 28, 1927 to Ed and Lillie Burnell. She grew up in Caribou Township and lived there until she married Elmer Johnson in 1945. They made their home on the Johnson Farm in Cannon Township. She was a homemaker, hard working farm-wife, and mother to four children. Elmer and Janette moved to Lake Bronson in 1988 where they lived for several years before moving to Hallock. She moved to Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in 2003 to be with Elmer. She enjoyed gardening and baking in her younger years, and was known for her love of birds. Elmer & Janette were very proud of celebrating 60 years of marriage shortly before Elmer passed away in 2006. She remained active in the nursing home with crafts and other activities until her eyesight began to fail. Janette is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elmer; a sister, Marita; brothers, Russell and Jackie and son-in-law David Scott. Survived by a son, Percy (Rose) of Duluth, MN; and daughters Hollie Scott of Viking, MN; Gail (Steve) Nadolske of Ashland, WI; and Carlene (Jamie) Cole of Humboldt, MN. Grandchildren, Shelly (Bill) Bergstrom, of Superior, WI; Cathy (Jeremy) Olson, of Blaine, MN; Annette (Tony) Merritt, of Hermantown, MN; Andrew, of Duluth, MN; Amy Christianson, of Waite Park, MN; and Jonathan (Joanna) Cole of Humboldt, MN. Great-Grandchildren Britta, Annika & Brock Bergstrom, Julie & Henry Olson, Simon & Chloe Merritt, and Alice Cole. Visitation is at Austin Funeral Home, Hallock, MN; from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11th, with prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral is Thursday, September 12th at 2 p.m. at Lancaster Covenant Church. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Lake Bronson. Rev. Galen Nordin, presiding; Janelle Hostrup, organist and Faye Potrament, soloist. Casket bearers will be Janette's grandchildren.
