Obituary

Jackson "Jack" R. Lupien, 66, of Hallock, Minnesota passed away at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock on Friday, September 20th, 2013. Jack was born at Neche, North Dakota September 8, 1947 to Leon and Nellie (Glenn) Lupien. He grew up at Neche and attended school there. Jack began his working career as a cook in Grand Forks at the Kegs Drive-in at the age of 15. He joined the U.S. Marines in 1965 and served in Viet Nam. He completed his military service in 1969 and started working at Motor Coach Industries in Pembina, North Dakota just two weeks after retuning home. On February 18, 1977 he married Ruth Seed and settled in Humboldt, Minnesota. He retired on January 4, 2010. Jack was a member of the Humboldt City Council for 20 years. He was also a member of the Neche American Legion. Jack enjoyed deer hunting and caring for and riding horses, a passion he carried from his youth. Family members include his wife, Ruth; a daughter, Nancy (Wayne) Merriman, Camp Verde, AZ; a son, Lance (Lacey), Lancaster,MN; a grandson, Lincoln Lupien; sisters, Isabel Bekkedahl, Leona Mondor, Judy Mondor, Shirley Miranda, Anita Blocker, Mary Lou Urlaub, Dorothy Snell and Audrey Smith; brothers, Bill, Les and Larry; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents and a sister, Diane. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, September 26th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Assumption Catholic Church, Pembina. Interment will be in St. Vincent Cemetery, St. Vincent, MN. Fr. Joseph Okogba, presiding, Gwen Emerson, organist and Sue Albrecht, soloist. Casket bearers will be Greg Bekkedahl, Kenny Mondor, Rachel Salwei, Jeff Urlaub, Alan Symington and Melody Fiordo. Honorary casket bearers will be nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
