Helen Uscensky Boroski, 93, of Lancaster, Minnesota passed away at
Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock on Wednesday, August 17,
2016. Helen was born May 15, 1923 to William and Agnes (Wallenberg)
Potrament. She attended St. Joseph Country School through the 8th
grade. She married Steven Uscensky on September 20, 1944. They farmed
north of Lancaster, raising cattle and small grains. They had five
children. Steven died June 6, 1962. Helen then moved into town. To
support her family she worked at various places cleaning, housekeeping
and baking. Helen married Paul Boroski on October 18, 1969. They moved
to a farm north of Lancaster where Helen could once again enjoy the
country life. Paul died April 24, 2011. Her hobbies and interests
included gardening, canning, cooking baking, tending to her chickens,
making quilts for her children and grandchildren, making buggy wheel
rugs, flowers, dancing and fishing. Her smoked sausage, cabbage rolls
and perogies were family favorites enjoyed at every special occasion.
Helen was a lifelong member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She was an
active parishioner, participating in Ladies Circle and Rosary Society.
Her strong faith sustained her throughout her life. Helen always put her
family first. Her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great
great grandchildren were the focus of her life and meant the world to
her.
She is survived by her brother, Frankie Potrament; her children, Mary
Ann Schmiedeberg, Kathy (Kendall) Hunter, Judy Ness, Bill (Marla)
Uscensky, Steven (Heidi) Uscensky II; 14 grandchildren, Wayne (Cindy)
Schmiedeberg, Danny (Liza) Schmiedeberg, Bobby (Pattijo) Schmiedeberg,
Donnie (Jenny) Schmiedeberg, Keith (Michelle) Schmiedeberg, Kraig
(Francine) Hunter, Kristin (Paul) Erickson, Kendra (Nick) Wentworth,
Travis Ness, Melissa (Tyler) Huber, Alison (Jason) Steele, Kaley
(Calvin) Motika, Steven Uscensky III and Seth Uscensky; 22 great
grandchildren, Michael, Brady, Brett, Blair, Nicia, Adela, Emily,
Rachel, Chisum, Laura, Garet, Gabby, Carson, McKenzie, Alexis, Kai,
Hunter, Myah, Kendall, Grayson, Jerzi and Elaina; and a great great
grandson, Braxtyn. She was preceded in death by her husbands; parents;
brothers, Edward, Lawrence, Stanley and Leonard; a grandson, Kevin
Hunter; son-in-law, Larry Schmiedeberg and fiancé of Mary Ann, Bill
Olsonoski.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 11:00
a.m. in Holy Rosary Catholic Church, rural Lancaster. Interment will be
in Holy Rosary Cemetery. Fr. Craig Vasek, presiding; Pam Hunt, organist.
Readers, Kristin Erickson, Emily Schmiedeberg and Nicia Schmiedeberg.
Casket bearers will be Helen's grandsons. Honorary casket bearers will
be Helen's great grandchildren. Gift bearers will be Helen's
granddaughters. Visitation will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church
in Hallock Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at
7:00 p.m. Austin Funeral Chapel, Hallock.
