Obituary

Harris D. Ryden, 81, of Minneapolis, Minnesota and formerly of Donaldson, Minnesota passed away March 19th, 2015 at Providence Place in Minneapolis. Harris Duane Ryden was born May 23, 1933 at Donaldson to Mabel and Carl Ryden. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Olaf Lutheran Church at Donaldson. Harris attended school in Donaldson and Kennedy, Minnesota, graduating from Kennedy High School in 1955. While in high school he sang in boys and mixed choirs, served as student manager for the football and basketball teams and was a member of the Letterman's Club. Harris worked at American Crystal Sugar Company before moving to Minneapolis where he began working at Metropolitan Stadium for the Minnesota Twins. When the Twins moved to the Metrodome he took a job at a local bakery and stayed with his close friends, the Gerle family, until he found his own apartment. He entered the nursing home in 2014. Harris was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and the Hallock Eagles Club. He is survived by a sister, Vivian Jacobson, Karlstad, MN; a sister-in-law, Joyce Ryden, Strathcona, MN; many nieces and nephews; and special family friends, Greg, Joe and Jimmy Gerle. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Evans, Davis, Carlton, Axel, Robert and Orville; sisters, Melba, Carol, Annabelle and Marriel; and a nephew, Jackie Ryden. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, March 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Austin Funeral Chapel, Hallock. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Donaldson. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral service. Rev. Gary Halverson, presiding; Corienne Jabcobson, soloist. Casket bearers will be family and friends.
