Obituary

Longtime Drayton resident and former business owner of Halcrows, Frank Staskivige, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2018, at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks with his wife, Margret, by his side.

Frank Richard Staskivige was one of ten children born to Robert & Alma (Arnevick) Staskivige on July 31, 1936.  Frank was raised and educated in Drayton and continued to live there until his death.  Even though Frank stayed close to home, he had an adventurous side.  In 1957, he enlisted in the U.S. Army.  His journey would start in Fort Carson, Colorado, for basic training.  From there he was sent to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Fort Belvoir, VA, and finally Tudean, Greenland, where he built airplane hangars.  After Greenland he returned to Belvoir, VA. Frank always wanted to see Germany and he was granted that wish by means only known to Frank.  Heidelberg, Germany, was his next destination.  He would be assigned to the 130th station hospital.  While in Germany, Frank met his future wife Margret Kulbrunner of Leimen.  While in Germany, their first daughter Barbara was born.  Frank would stay in Germany for four years and eight months before returning to Fort Dix, NY, where he was honorably discharged in July, 1963.

After returning to Drayton, Frank bought the house he always wanted and began living life with his new little family.  Frank resumed working for Halcrows as a plumber and would eventually go into partnership with his brother Dean, Harris Anderson and John Prigge.  Frank would retire at the age of 65.

On March 17, 1967, the family was again blessed with the birth of his second daughter, Heide.  Now the family was complete.Frank was a very talented and proud man, which can be seen by looking at his house and yard.  There was nothing he couldn't accomplish when he set his mind to it.  He also had a sense of humor that will truly be missed.  Over the last several years, Frank has been unable to do things he truly loved, sitting outside and fishing.  I'm pretty sure "Kirk" is waiting with a fishing rod in hand!

Dad, we'll miss you, and love you – but now you're free.  We'll see you beyond the moon.

Frank is survived by Margret, his wife of 58 years; Daughters, Barbara (Donald) Mandigo and Heidi (Allen) Brosius; Granddaughters, Amanda (Michael) Bjorn and Michaela Brosius; Grandson, Jacob Brosius; Great-grandsons, Hunter and Wyatt Bjorn; Sisters, Shirley Bill and Linda (Tom) Grazadzieleski; Brothers, Robert (Gloria) Staskivige, Dean (Betty) Staskivige, Ronald (Pam) Staskivige; Sister-in-law, Linda Staskivige and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Alma Staskivige; Siblings, Michael Staskivige, Elaine (Leroy) Olson, Garfield (Alice) Staskivige, and Donald Staskivige; Brother-in-law, Lyle Bill; Niece, Kathy Staskivige.
