Florence Westerberg, 92, of Lancaster, Minnesota passed away Monday, November 23, 2015 at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock, Minnesota. Florence Peterson was born November 19, 1923 to Anhilm and Myrtle Peterson in Thompson Township near Hallock. At the age of 5 the family moved to Granville Township where she lived until February 2, 1946 when she married Glen Westerberg of Lake Bronson, a union of 67 years. They lived and farmed in Hazelton Township until December of 1994 when they moved into their new home in Lancaster. She lived there until December of 2010 when health forced her into the nursing home. Florence enjoyed her flowers and hummingbirds immensely and during her spare time did lots of needlework. She sewed for herself and the girls as they were growing up and had even embroidered dish towels on horseback when she was young. She also baked wonderful bread, buns and pies. Florence was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, WELCA and the Hazelton Homemakers.
Florence is survived by daughters, LaVonne (Dave) Arnold of Grand Forks and Idelle (Ken) Klegstad, Halma, MN; seven grandchildren, Les (Tracy), Glen (Kim) and Steven (Melissa) Arnold, Michael (Rochelle), Daryl (Jennifer), Kerry and Kayla Klegstad; 12 great grandchildren, Layne, Tanner, Trevor, Andrew, Adam, Emily, Grace and Ella Arnold; Alaura, Keaton, Jaxon and Eli Klegstad a step great grandson, Dane (Val) Hanson and daughter; brothers, Myron (Pat) Peterson, Lancaster and Ronald (Mary) Peterson, Deer River, MN; a sister, Arlyce Murray, San Jose, CA and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; step father, Norman Murray; husband, Glen; a brother Maitland and two sisters, Marlene Wallenberg and Delores Lyberg.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Bronson. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Lake Bronson. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service in the church on Saturday. Pastor Kathy Levenhagen, presiding. Galen Nordin, soloist and Bruce Steen, pianist. Casket bearers will be Florence's grandchildren.
