Ellen E. Marciniak, 90, of Drayton, North Dakota passed away at Woodside Village in Grand Forks on Wednesday, June 7, 2017.  Ellen Emma Fitzgerald was born to James and Ellen (Smith) Fitzgerald on May 6, 1927 in Joliette Township of Pembina County.  She grew up on the family farm and attended Fleece Country School.  On April 11, 1944 she was united in marriage to Steve Marciniak in St. Edward's Catholic Church at Drayton. Ellen worked as a CNA in Grafton for 11 years and helped on the farm, always working during the potato harvest.  She retired in 1989. Steve passed away on May 1, 2014.  Ellen was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church and the Altar Society.

She is survived by a son, Pete (Denise) Marciniak of Drayton; a daughter, Margaret (Carroll) Thomas of Bulloch County, GA; 10 grandchildren; several great grand and great great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Green of Halma, Minnesota and Ruby Dybedahl of Roseau, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Jackie Lee, Max Dean and Stephen Joseph; a daughter, Ruth Ann; a grandchild, Nina; a great grandchild, Trey; one sister and five brothers.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, June 12, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. in Austin Funeral Chapel, Drayton. Interment will be in Drayton City Cemetery. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service.
