Edwin Carl Carlson, of Hallock, Minnesota passed away peacefully at Kittson Memorial on July 25th at the age of 85.

Edwin 'Ed' Carlson was born on January 14th, 1938 in Augsburg Township, Marshall County to C. Albert and Agda (Stride). The fifth born of 12 children, Ed grew up on a farm before moving into the town of Stephen, Minnesota in 1944. Ed graduated from Stephen High School in 1956 and enlisted in the United States Air Force in January 1957. He served our great country for six honorable years (active and reserve). While on active duty, Ed was deployed to Germany and those years spent abroad as a young man were very impactful. Ed often told stories of his adventures during his time in the service.

Ed returned home to Stephen, MN in 1960 and soon met the love of his life, Angel Ann Sparby. Ed and Angel were married at St. Rose Catholic Church in Argyle, Minnesota, on February 23, 1963. They started their life together in Argyle, then Stephen, MN, before moving to their home in Hallock, Minnesota, in 1969. There, Ed and Angel raised their six children. Ed worked 28 years before retiring from Crane Johnson Lumber Company. Ed lived a simple, quiet life. He enjoyed working with his hands. Over the years, Ed built many buildings and tended many gardens.

In addition to his wife of 60 years, Angel, Ed is survived by his children Mark (Mary) of Griswold, CT, Merle (Jennifer) of Atlanta, GA, Ann-Mari (Matt) of Dilworth, MN, Michael of Nevis, MN, Alane of Las Vegas, NV and Alissa of Cottonwood, AZ; along with many grandchildren & great grandchildren; his siblings, Janice Landreville of Milaca, MN, Allard (Debby) Carlson of Hallock, MN, Carole (Jeff) Winter of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, and Donna Wilson of Sioux Falls, SD; sister-in-law, Mary (Robert), of Argyle, MN. June Carlson, of Warren, MN, Betty Carlson of Thief River Falls, MN, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ed is proceeded in death by his parents, his brothers, Larry, Alden, Dennis, and LeRoy; infant brother, Sydney, his sisters, Corine and Marion; his brothers-in-law, Jim Krogh, Dick Wilson, Donald Bates and Willard Landreville.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Karlstad, MN.
