Doris Hanson, 84, of Karlstad, Minnesota passed away at the Karlstad Healthcare Center on Monday January 20th, 2014. Doris Mae Johnson was born July 12, 1929, the daughter of Carl and Anna Johnson. Doris was raised in the Lutheran Faith and attended country school. On November 15, 1953 she was united in marriage to George Hanson. The couple settled on a farm near Halma, Minnesota and raised their family there. Doris worked at the original Hallock Nursing Home until its closure. She then worked at the Arctic Cat plant in Karlstad and later the Kittson Memorial Nursing Home until her retirement. In retirement Doris worked part time at the Super 8 Motel in Hallock. George passed away June 29, 1987. Family members include two sons, Jerry Hanson, Gresham, Oregon and Bryce (Vickie) Hanson, Karlstad; a sister, Lorraine Erickson, Karlstad; brothers, Kenneth Johnson, Minneapolis, MN and Willis (Elizabeth) Johnson in Florida; seven grandchildren, Reade, Tony, Matthew, Elizabeth, Renee, Megan and Joshua; six great grandchildren, Elyse, Aubrey, Kaden, Devin, Kristi and Joshua. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; three sisters, Violet, Charlotte and Gertrude; and two brothers, George and Warren. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church at Lake Bronson, Minnesota. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Lake Bronson. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the funeral service. Pastor Kathy Levenhagen, presiding; Wes and Barb Staie, will provide special music. Casket bearers will be Reade Hanson, Tony Hanson, Matt Hanson, Peter Olson, Lyle Erickson and Josh Kostrzewski.
