Doris Dagoberg, 90, of Stephen, Minnesota passed away at Valley Memorial Home in Grand Forks, North Dakota on Friday, April 10, 2015. Doris Clarice Maxwell was born December 27,1924 in Grafton, ND to John and Clara Maxwell. She moved to Stephen when she was 3 years old and lived there her entire life. Doris was a 1942 graduate of Stephen High School. After graduation she attended Business School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She worked there until returning to Stephen where she worked at Arnold's store until her marriage to Vernon Dagoberg November 11,1946. She is survived by husband Vernon; children Michael (Hai) Dagoberg, Huntington Beach, CA, Mark Dagoberg, Phoenix, AZ, Susan (Scott) MacMillan, Grand Forks, ND, Cathy Childers, Madison, WI; grandchildren; Sarah Weber, Elizabeth Dagoberg, Brock and Megan Childers; great grandchildren; Taylor, Toby, Braden, and Jackson Schwidde, and Elliott Weber; Siblings; Jean Insley, Madison, WI, Don Maxwell, Cerritos, CA, Carole (Fred) Riley, Eugene, OR, Ken (Mary) Maxwell, Madison, WI, and Glenna (Kermit) Garske, Devils Lake, ND; and several nieces and nephews. She preceded in death by parents, infant son John, brother Gordon Maxwell. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Everyone who got to know Doris loved her. She was an accomplished baker, cook, and seamstress. She loved to garden and can her fresh garden vegetables. She enjoyed fishing for hours, and loved to play pinochle and bridge. She was an avid sports lover, especially for the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, and hometown sports. Doris and Vernon loved to travel in their RV in their later years. They spent an enjoyable amount of time in Arizona and California. They also enjoyed trips to Alaska, Hawaii and Europe. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, April 15th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in First Lutheran Church, Stephen. Interment will be in the Stephen City Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
