Doris Frances Anderson, 90, of Hallock, Minnesota passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at the Kittson Memorial Hospital in Hallock, MN.  Doris Frances Kushinski was born February 10, 1926 in St. Joseph Twp, Kittson County MN, the sixth of seven children born to John and Rose (Pollock) Kushinski.  The Kushinski family moved to Cannon Township in the early 1930's, where Doris completed school through the eighth grade.  In 1944 the Kushinski family moved to Hallock, Minnesota. However, Doris and her younger sister, Violet stayed back on the farm for another year to tend to the family livestock until they were sold.  Upon moving to Hallock Doris found work at Chip's Café where she met the love of her life, Arthur "Art" Vego Anderson.  Doris and Art were united in marriage on June 26, 1951 at St. Patrick's Church, Hallock, Minnesota.  Doris and Art made Hallock home for their entire lives.  Upon Art's death in 1968 Doris re-entered the workforce to care for her three young children and started her own cleaning service which she successfully ran for the next 27 years.  In addition to the cleaning service, Doris also was an avid gardener and crafter.  Doris was locally known for her bountiful garden and beautiful flowers.  Doris began crafting at an early age and also became locally known for her handcrafted rugs which she also made for over 50 years.  Doris was a member of St. Patrick's Church and the ladies' guild and also a member of the Hallock Senior Center where, until recently, she was a regular for weekly bingo.  Doris's greatest joy were her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all of the friends she made over the years.


Doris is survived by three children, Robert (Nancy) Hallock, MN; Barb Johnson, Karlstad, MN and Allen (Dianne) Thief River Falls, MN.  Five grandchildren; Daniel Johnson, Karlstad, MN; Taryn (Carey) Mortenson, Kennedy, MN; Joel Anderson, Hallock, MN; Kari (Ryan) Sternisha, Thief River Falls, MN and Zane Anderson, Thief River Falls, MN.  Three great grandchildren, Jacob and Lia Mortenson, Aubryanna Sternisha and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Doris is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, brothers and their spouses and son-in-law Charles Johnson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Patrick's Catholic Church with visitation from noon-1:00.  Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock, MN. Galen Nordin and Faye Potrament, duet, and Sharlene Klegstad, organist. Pallbearers will be Doris' Grandchildren, Daniel Johnson, Joel Anderson, Taryn Mortenson, Zane Anderson and Kari Sternisha. Honorary pallbearers will be  Janice Glidden, Helen Potrament, Kay Rosengren, Martha Knutson, Mary Carlson and Bea Bahr.
