Donald Easton, 78, of Hallock, Minnesota passed away at Karlstad Healthcare Center in Karlstad on Tuesday, August 13, 2013. Donald Harris Easton was born at Hallock, Minnesota May 4, 1935 to Harris and Marguerite (Phair) Easton. He grew up on the family farm near Humboldt, Minnesota and attended school in Humboldt. Don served with the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1957 and was stationed on the U.S.S. Hornet. After returning home he helped on the farm and in the winter months would travel to Ontario, California and work at Armstrong Nurseries. On January 9, 1966 he was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Kendall. They settled in St. Vincent, Minnesota and raised their family there. Donald worked for Motor Coach Industries in Pembina, North Dakota for over 30 years. He retired in 2006 and in 2007 he and Ruth moved to Hallock. Don was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was a U.S.S. Hornet Reunion Member. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; four children, Deborah Easton, Darien, CT, Janine Easton, Neche, ND, Clifford (Julie) Easton, Kaukauna, WI and Mark (Miwa) Easton, Marysville, WA; two grandchildren, Wesley and Evan; a brother, William (Diane) Easton, Bemidji, MN and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ellen. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, August 16,th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church at Hallock. Interment will be in the St. Vincent Cemetery, St. Vincent, Minnesota. Rev. Frank Johnson, presiding; Special music Renee, Wahl, organist and Ronald Fossell, soloist. Honorary casket bearers will be family and friends. Visitation will be held at the Austin Funeral Home in Hallock on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
