Obituary

Dennis Wayne Olson was called to heaven on Monday, April 7, 2014 at Valley ElderCare in Grand Forks with family by his side. Dennis Wayne Olson was born March 14, 1950 to Gilbert and Ella (Benson) Olson in Warren, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in First Lutheran Church at Stephen, Minnesota. He graduated from Stephen High School in 1968. On February 20, 1970 he was united in marriage to Pamela Seaverson at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. He attended and graduated from Thief River Falls Area Technical College in 1970. Dennis and Pam made their home in Grand Forks, where Dennis was employed at EAPC. In 1974 they purchased Nu Bridge Mobil Station. Dennis worked in construction for two and a half years, working on several homes and the chapel at Camp Shalom at Maple Lake, Minnesota. In 1976 they moved to Stephen. Dennis continued in construction and then farmed until his health declined, retiring in 2001. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Pam; four sons, Paul (Barbara) Grand Forks, Mark (Lana) Alvarado, ND, Justin (Jamie), East Grand Forks and Joel (Katie), Grand Forks; 11 grandchildren, Amber, Mandi, Adam, Faith, Chance, Grace, Brayden, Destiny, Christian, Sebastian and Kirsten; 6 great grandchildren, Gabriel, Lucas, Madi, Beth, Braxton and Easton; a sister, Judi (Dave) Loer, East Grand Forks; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, April 14th, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Grand Forks. Rev. James Shannon, presiding; Rev. Nathan Loer, soloist, Kathleen Aregood, soloist and Jill Grzadzielewski, organist. Casket bearers will be Paul, Mark, Justin, Joel and Adam Anderson, and Cole Mertz. Honorary casket bearers will be Dennis' grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 and on Monday for one hour prior to the service.
