Obituary

Delores A. Lyberg, 83, of Lancaster, Minnesota passed away on Saturday, August 31st, 2013 at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center. Delores was born March 6, 1930 in Granville Township, Kittson County, Minnesota to Anhilm and Myrtle Peterson. She graduated from Lancaster High School in 1948 and on February 16th, 1949 married Gordon Lyberg of Lancaster. The lived and farmed in St. Joseph Township on the family farm. Delores was an active member of Sion Lutheran Church. She served on the American Legion Auxiliary, belonged to the Lancaster Lions and was a member of the North Star Square Dance Club. Delores had a love for baking which was especially evident in her passion for making hundreds of wedding and birthday cakes as well as making pies and rolls at her daughter Susan's cafe. She was also active in catering for local events. When not busy on the family farm and taking care of family, she also enjoyed spending her spare time gardening, growing flowers, sewing and fishing. Delores moved into town in 1998 and enjoyed retirement there until she entered the nursing home in 2010 because of failing health. She is survived by a daughter, Susan (Jack) Weaver; sons, Arlen (Jean) Lyberg, Danny Lyberg and Dean Lyberg all of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Dorran Anderson, Shannon (Jason) Langerud, Shawn (Cheri) Lyberg, Tanner and Tyler Lyberg all of Lancaster; four great grandchildren, Brooke, Hope, Paige and Faith Lyberg; sisters, Florence Westerberg, Hallock, MN and Arlyce Murray, San Jose, CA; two brothers, Myron (Pat) Peterson, Lancaster and Ronald (Mary) Peterson, Deer River, MN and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; step father, Norman Murray; husband, Gordon; a sister, Marlene Wallenberg and a brother, Maitland Peterson. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Sion Lutheran Church, Lancaster. Interment will be in Riverview Memorial Garden Cemetery, Lancaster. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Rev. Melodi Hagen and Rev. Galen Nordin, presiding; Special music provided by the Popple Ridge Pickers. Casket bearers will be Jim and Irene Wallenberg, Joe and Cindy Boroski, Russell and Mary Phillips.
