Darleen Olson, 93, of Halma, Minnesota passed away at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center on Monday, September 9, 2024.

Darleen Marie Anderson was born east of Lake Bronson, Minnesota on October 7, 1930, the daughter of Albert and Sarah (Souder) Anderson. Her family moved to rural Kennedy, Minnesota and Darleen graduated from high school there in 1948.

Darleen went on to attend Aakers Business College in Grand Forks, North Dakota. In 1952, she was united in marriage to Clifford Olson at Maria Lutheran Church in Kennedy.  They settled east of Donaldson, Minnesota. Darleen began working as a typesetter at the North Star News in Karlstad, Minnesota in 1976. She stayed at the newspaper until 1988 and in 1989 began working at Marvin Windows. She retired from Marvin's in 2000 but continued to work part-time at First Lutheran Church in Karlstad. Clifford died in 1999.

Darleen was a lifelong member of Eidsvold Lutheran Church in Halma until it's closure. Darleen loved gardening and was very good at canning fruits, vegetables and meats. She enjoyed playing dominos, cards and traveling with her good friend, Alpha Souder.

Family members include her children, Kathleen (Duane) Olson, Santa Monica, CA, Janelle (Don) Hostrup, Lancaster, Steven (Kim) Olson, Karlstad and Shari (John) Trigg, Covington, LA; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son, Brian; and brother, Vernon.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, September 13, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in Austin Funeral Chapel, Hallock. Interment will be in Eidsvold Cemetery, Halma. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service.
