Obituary

Dale Hanson, 66, of St. Vincent, Minnesota passed away at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock early Tuesday morning, January 14th, 2014. Dale was born May 1, 1947 at Hallock, Minnesota to ElRoy and Frances (Nelson) Hanson. He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1965. Dale served with the U.S. Army for three years during the Viet Nam Conflict. He married Cheryl Easter June 6, 1966 at Sion Lutheran Church in Lancaster. Dale and Cheryl were married 43 years and lived in St. Vincent where they were blessed with two sons, Farron and Jerrod. As a young man Dale worked for Kiene Farms in Kennedy, Minnesota, Motor Coach Industries in Pembina, North Dakota and Great Lakes Gas Company in St. Vincent. After 30 years of service with Great Lakes he retired because of failing health. Dale was town clerk for St. Vincent and a life member of the Pembina American Legion Post. He's been a resident of Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center for the past 8 years. Dale was a member of Sion Lutheran Church in Lancaster before joining Pembina Lutheran Church. He is survived by his sons, Farron (Michelle) Hanson, North Aurora, Illinois and Jerrod (Sally) Hanson, Grand Forks, ND; five grandchildren, Chelsea, Analise, Ryan, Brooklyn and Ashlyn; a great grandson, Reese ; and Cheryl Hanson Winstad; as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dennis and sisters, Bonnie and Jane. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, January 20th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Sion Lutheran Church at Lancaster, Minnesota. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Riverview Memorial Garden Cemetery, Lancaster. Rev. Melodi Hagen, presiding; Brooklyn Hanson, reader; Analise and Ryan Hanson, eulogy; Galen and Julie Nordin, duet and Sharlene Klegstad, organist. Honorary casket bearers will be family and friends. A flag presentation will be made by the Lancaster American Legion.
