Connie Glad (77) passed away at the Kittson Memorial Nursing Home on Thursday afternoon October 10th, 2013. Constance Mae Nordling was born on October 6, 1936 in Hallock, Minnesota to Helmer and Irene Nordling. She attended grade school in a one room country schoolhouse and attended high school in Lancaster, MN. She was involved in numerous school activities: band, glee club, drama, and student government are a few. Connie graduated in 1954 and went on to Aakers Business College and worked as a stenographer at Minnkota Power Company in Grand Forks, ND. Connie married her high school sweetheart Raymond Glad on November 10, 1956 at Grace Lutheran Church in Hallock. Connie and Ray resided in Moorhead, MN for a while after their wedding while Ray attended Hanson's Trade School. Soon after Connie and Ray moved to Hopkins, MN where they lived for several years before building a home in Minnetonka, MN where they raised their 2 children; Bradley and Sheryl. When their kids were young Connie worked part time for the lunch room at the grade school where the kids were attending. Later Connie did office work for an accountant near their home in Glen Lake and later for Lapic Associates of Hopkins before retiring. After she retired she spent many hours volunteering at Gethsemane Lutheran Church which she enjoyed. Throughout her life Connie loved the company of her family and friends and was always up for a quick game of cards. As many of you know "Go" and "Nickels" were among her favorites. She also enjoyed playing bingo, doing word finds, and taking trips to Arizona, visiting family during the long Minnesota winters. In April 2012 Connie moved to Kittson Memorial Nursing Home in Hallock, MN. She enjoyed many visits from family and friends that she hadn't seen for a several years; she made new card playing friends and enjoyed being closer to her grandkids. Friday Night Live and bingo games were among her favorites activities at the nursing home. Family members include her children; Brad (Julie) Glad, Sheryl (Jay) Schimdgall, three grandchildren: Miranda, Alecsys, & Noah Glad, and much extended family. A visitation will be held at the Austin Funeral Chapel in Hallock on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Rev. Steve Grosz, presiding. Graveside services will be held at Grand View Park Cemetery (6901 Maloney Ave.) in Hopkins on Thursday, October 24th, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. A lunch will be held at Gethsemane Lutheran Church (715 Minnetonka Mills Road, Hopkins, MN) following the service.
