Charles Roman Stellon, 85, of Drayton, North Dakota passed away on March 21, 2017 at Unity Medical Center in Grafton.  Charlie was born into a large family on October 1, 1931 to Roman and Eva (Parker) Stellon.  He was raised on a farm and attended school near Bowesmont, North Dakota. As a young man, he worked on the family farm.  He proudly served in the Army operating artillery during the Korean War.  In 1955 he married Irene Cooney and they had two children, Jackie and Jim. He worked for almost 40 years for the Burlington Northern Railroad and enjoyed farming activities in his free time. He enjoyed baseball and it was an important part of his life. He played for several independent baseball teams, his favorite being the Bowesmont Blue Jays. He enjoyed sharing the details of his New York Yankees baseball tryout with his grandchildren. His humble tale always brought joy and laughter to those listening.  He played city league softball into his 50's. Up until his death, he loved watching Major League Baseball and had an amazing memory for statistics, old and new.  Charles loved his nephew, Andy Duncklee, who took great care of him in his final years. Andy was kind and patient with his uncle and spent a considerable amount of time with him.

He is survived by his two children, Jacqueline (Thomas) Bair, Mandan, ND and James (Elizabeth) Stellon, Richfield, MN; five grandchildren, Emily, (Kyle) Christensen, Charles (Lise) Bair, Patrick Bair, Anthony Stellon and Jack Stellon. He was very happy to have spent time with his new great granddaughter, Nora Christensen. Charles is also survived by sisters, Helen Schumacher and Shirley Kotchman, as well as  nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marie Lindley, Rosanna Duncklee, Bernice Thomson, Catherine Hirschfeldt, Norma Herzog and Bette Strong; and brothers, Raymond, Norman and Kenneth.

Memorial services are scheduled for Friday, April 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Austin Funeral Chapel, Drayton. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Rev. Leroy Aufenkamp, presiding, Phyllis Holter, organist and Galen Nordin, soloist. Honorary casket bearers will be Charlie's grandchildren. Military honors will be accorded by the Drayton American Legion and the North Dakota National Guard. The family prefers memorials  to the Drayton American Legion and the Drayton Park Board.
