Carole Ann Gatheridge, age 69, of Humboldt, MN, put on her dancing shoes on December 1, 2014, so she could finally enjoy that dirty dance with Patrick Swayze she always spoke about after being diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer in September of 2014, although she was never sure it would be as good as dancing onstage twice in real life with one of her idols, Chubby Checker. Carole was born on August 27, 1945 to Maurice and Rachel (Casey) Foldoe. Carole and her family, including 2 sisters and 1 brother, lived in Red Lake Falls, MN where she graduated high school. After graduation, Carole and her family moved to Kennedy, MN. While hospitalized with tonsillitis at the age of 18 in Hallock, MN, Carole first laid eyes on the love of her life, Richard Gatheridge, as he walked by her room to visit his grandmother. They were married on June 12, 1964 at the Humboldt United Methodist Church, and in 2014 celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary the same way they had done everything elsetogether, just the two of them. Carole worked at Kittson County Social Services after high school for a time until she was married, then she and Richard farmed, and later she also worked as a teacher's aide at the Humboldt-St. Vincent School, worked in the kitchen at Kittson Memorial in Hallock, sold Avon for many years, and retired from MotorCoach Industries in Pembina, ND in 2007. During her retirement she enjoyed gardening, cross-stitching, reading, couponing, shopping, going to the casino, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She always said she should have continued working for social services after she was married, but what she really wanted to be was a mother. She in the eyes of her children was what every mother should bekind, nurturing, selfless and funand simply the best mother any child could ask for. Loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, she is survived by her dancing partner and husband, Richard A. Gatheridge, Humboldt, MN; 2 daughters, Michelle (Ben) Rosenau, Hallock, MN and Heather Gatheridge, Kennedy, MN; 2 sons, Richard W. Gatheridge, Humboldt, MN and Mike (Theresa) Gatheridge, Fargo, ND. Carole's greatest joy after her children was definitely her 6 grandchildren including Dustin Laniel, Fargo, ND; Nicholas Gatheridge, Pembina, ND; Rocco Rosenau; Drew Westman; and Aidan and Helaina Gatheridge. She is also survived by her sister, Bonnie (Doug) Theroux, Weaverville, NC; brother Richard (Amani) Foldoe, Cairo, Egypt; sister Debra Foldoe, Arlington, TX; step-mother Catherine (Maurice) Foldoe, St. Louis, MO; uncle Joseph (Delphine) Casey, Estes Park, CO; uncle Leslie (Elaine) Foldoe, Erskine, MN; aunt Wilma (Anton) Olseson, Mesa, AZ; many wonderful cousins; and last, but certainly not least, her best friend, Sandra Lund, Lancaster, MN. Preceding Carole to the dance floor are a daughter, Jill Elizabeth; father, Maurice Foldoe; and mother, Rachel Elizabeth MacPherson. Private memorial services are planned.
